How travel internet works

One eSIM for every trip: the travel profile is set up on the phone once. Before each next trip you simply add a data plan for the country you are flying to, with nothing to install again. Here is how it works, step by step.

An eSIM is mobile internet for your phone without a plastic SIM card. Nothing needs to be inserted, and your usual SIM stays in place. After the order we send a QR code: point the camera at it, and the travel connection is ready in about a minute.

Step by step

1Choose a destination in the catalogue and a plan that fits the trip.
2Place the order and confirm the email address it should be sent to.
3Receive the QR code and the installation details by email.
4Scan the QR code while the phone is on Wi-Fi, and the eSIM is added to the phone.
5Switch on data roaming for the travel eSIM when you land, and the connection starts.

How to install

Install from the QR code while the phone is connected to Wi-Fi.

On iPhone

  1. 1Point the camera at the QR code, or use the one-tap installation link from the email.
  2. 2The phone offers to add a cellular plan, confirm it.
  3. 3On arrival switch on data roaming for the travel eSIM, and the connection starts.

On Android

  1. 1Open Settings, mobile network, add eSIM, and scan the QR code.
  2. 2Switch on mobile data and data roaming for the travel eSIM.
  3. 3That is all, the connection starts when you land.

Remember to switch on data roaming for the travel eSIM. Without it there is no connection, even when everything else is set up correctly. If the internet does not appear, see the Help page, there is a short checklist there.

The next trip is simpler

No new QR code is needed. Before the next trip you add a data plan for the country you are flying to, and it goes into the same eSIM that is already in the phone. One profile stays in the device and waits for the next journey.

What to check

  • The phone supports eSIM.
  • Data roaming is switched on for the travel eSIM.
  • The phone is not locked to a single network operator.

Not sure whether the phone supports eSIM? See the Help page.
